Professor Val Rust from UCLA held academic report in College of Education, Zhejiang University

 

On the afternoon of November 20, all seats were occupied in the meeting room 228 of Tin Ka Ping college. Pre-president of USA Comparative Education Society, Professor Val Rust of University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) was invited to visit College of Education, Zhejiang University. He held an academic theme at Higher Education: Universities in Comparative Education, which attracted students of different grade and major.
   In the lecture which directed by Dr. Shanyun He, professor Val Rust shown the influence of globalization and internationalization of higher education in a special and interesting way began with a classic song “It is a small world”. He analyzed the situation in related fields such as America, France, German, China, est. He also outline a road map to create a world class university in the process of internationalization of education before affirmed the measures as sending scholars visit other countries and opening Confucius college. In his opinion, such programs will help to enhance the soft power and competitiveness of one country.
   During the lecture, professor Rust has interacted with fellow students with his humor. They also discussed several topics such as the policy of study abroad, teacher’s qualifications, academic autonomy, the relationship between education and research, and so on. The scene has a warm atmosphere.
