Recently, UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education has launched the transnational comparative research project of Asia-Pacific Education and Research Institution in 2013, that was focusing on the non-cognitive abilities in education and transition from secondary education to higher education. Nominated and recommended by the Secretariat of the National Committee of UNESCO, a research team led by the dean of the College of Education Xu Xiaozhou undertook the research work of Chinese cases in one of the projects Transition from secondary education to higher education on behalf of the educational agencies in China.
During March 7 to 8, at the seminar on the annual project of ERI-Net 2013 of Asia-Pacific region held in Bangkok, Thailand, more than 50 experts and scholars from China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka and other countries, as well as the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, exchanged and shared opinions about the prevalent national policy and current developing situation around the theme of this year’s study, and also discussed the destination, framework, and approaches of transnational comparative research in depth. At the seminar, commissioned by the project group, Vice Professor Kan Yue of the College of Education addressed the report of the way to flexibility and diversity: the higher education entrance examination system in China and its impact on the secondary education.
