Recently, professor Thomas S.Popkewitz, from University of Wisconsin-Madison, paid a friendly visit to College of
Education, ZJU.
Professor Thomas S.Popkewitz works in School of Education of University of Wisconsin-Madison and has achieved great academic success. He made a significant contribution to social, cultural and historical research on Western education
reason and curriculum reform from the perspective of discourse, thus gaining world-renown research results. Up to now,
Professor Popkewitz has published 25 monographs and anthologies in the comparative research of education and
curriculum reform in America, Europe, Latin America and Asia, more than 160 theses on world top academic journals,
some of which have been translated into 11 languages. His latest monograph, Cosmopolitanism and the Age of School
Reform, has been translated into 4 languages.
In order to promote Western-Eastern dialogue on education, Curriculum and Teaching Research Center of College of
Education, ZJU invited Professor Thomas S.Popkewitz to give a lecture about curriculum research against the background
of postmodern thinking and its critical influence upon European and American education. Professor XU Xiaozhou,
administrative vice dean of College of Education, associate professor ZHANG Wenjun, associate professor XIAO
Longhai, young teachers, and students attended the lecture.
