On the morning of October 22, a delegation of 7 people from Faculty of Business, Economics and Law of University of Queensland (UQ) visited School of Management led by teacher Liqing Xiao, who came from the Foreign Affairs Department. This is the first official visit under the leadership of professor Lain Watson, the executive dean of BEL. The delegation includes professor Victor Callan, the vice dean who responsible for scientific research, professor Phil Bodman, the vice dean who responsible for teaching, professor Andrew Griffiths, the dean and responsible person of School of Business, UQ, Sir Rob Dougals, the director of School of Business, professor Flavio Menezes, the dean of School of Economics, UQ and Sir Jianrong Chen, the liaison officer of Faculty of International Relations. Dean Xiaobo Wu, vice director Guoming Song and Xiaohan Jin from Senior Management And Training Center, Xianhong Li, dean of Teaching Management Center, Fan Jiang, chief of Disciplines And Research Management Department, teacher Jiayin Lv from Tourism Management Department and Jiping zhu, director of Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Office shown warm welcome to the guests.
First, both sides introduced their own colleagues. Then dean Wu introduced the general situation of School of Management, Zhejiang University and HangZhou. Professor Griffiths mainly introduced the main situation of UQ Business School.
The dean said that both sides can have a cooperation in the programs such as PhD program, executive education program and project about degree of tourism management. Dean Watson expressed that the Institute of Tourism in UQ is the only one in Go8, and won the United Nations World Tourism Organization certification. It has a broad international cooperation, and looked forward to the further cooperation with the School of Management, Department of Tourism.
Both sides identified their contacts on areas that will have future cooperation. The met was end in a friendly gift-giving between the two deans.
