International Academic Conference On “The World Religions And Secular Society Under Globalization: Problems And Opportunities” Was Held Successfully

 

During September 30 to October 3, 2013, the International Academic Conference was held successfully in Meijiawu resort, Hangzhou. The topic of this conference was “The World Religions And Secular Society Under Globalization: Problems And Opportunities” and was held by Zhejiang University.
   There are 8 scholars from China and 8 scholars from German participated this conference, which around the theme of the problems and opportunities about religion and secular society under the globalization. A full discussion from the perspective of cross-cultural and interdisciplinary was held after the meeting divided into five sessions.
   According to the dialogue and discussion in the five sessions, scholars from both sides were fully alive to the significance of improving understanding, expanding research horizons and deepen the awareness of the problems. In the retrospect and prospect session, scholars believed that this issue involved a large range of topics and a wide span of disciplines. As the first meeting, it was appropriate for mutual understanding and to find a common research interest. Scholars from both sides had an interest in forming an dialogue and regular mechanism base on this conference. For this reason both sides made a contract about the next conference. The theme of the next conference is “Analysis the Conflict And Cooperation from the aspect of Cross-Cultural” and the place was set at the University of Siegen, Germany. While the time was made in the second weekend of October. All papers in the conference will be included into the first issue of the magazine named “religious review”, which was published by Zhejiang University. Meanwhile, the Teaching and Research Institute of Political Theory, Zhejiang University and Faculty of Philosophy, University of Siegen signed an agreement of academic cooperation between the Institute in order to carry out conferences, exchange teachers and students, share information and other aspects together. Christian, Intercultural Research Center and the University of Musnster evangelical theology signed a letter of intent at the same time.
   This conference was an outcome of the long communication and cooperation between religious scholars in China and German, and is also a new beginning of future cooperation in deepen bilateral institute level as well as the college level.
