On the afternoon of October 23, Professor Claire Wallace (the former chairman of the European Sociological Association) And Pamela Abbott (the consultant of United Nations Development Department, the European Union and the World Bank) From Faculty of Social Sciences, UK gave an academic report in the western and second building of Zijingang campus, Zhejiang University. The report was held by professor Ka Lin, the director of Social Security And Crisis Management Department. More than 30 teachers and students took part in this report.
During the report, professor Claire Wallace introduced the relative problems about the social policy of British, women’s rights and issues protection, the welfare services, and so on. While professor Pamela Abbott show the poverty problems existed in Africa international assistant and anti-poverty effectiveness by showing the example of Rwanda. Both foreign scholars and Chinese scholars as well as students participated the discussion actively. Such report helped to improve the communication and cooperation between teachers and students of Social Department with scholars from UK.
