On November 9, 2013, at the invitation of Deshui Jin, secretary of the Party committee of Zhejiang University, companied by vice secretary of the Party committee as well as vice dean of China Academy of West Region Department Guping Zhou and dean of Faculty of Social Sciences and College of Economics Jinchuan Shi, president of the Chinese Association of public diplomacy as well as the pre-minister of Foreign Affairs Department Zhaoxing Li visited China Academy of West Region Department.
Vice secretary Guping Zhou introduced the background of the West Region Department briefly. He reported the jobs being done around the target that “Scientific research base, science and technology service base, talent cultivation and training base, international cooperation and exchange base” since the West Region Department was set, mainly recommended the achievement made in order to devoted to build first-class western research platform and national policy base. Zhaoxing Li was interested in the development of West Region Department and academic achievement. So they visited the subject achievement exhibition room, reading room and the demo system of data center one after one, and enquired the construction of WD center in detail.
During the visit, Zhaoxing Li shown special attention to support education activities carried out by student association named “students of Zhejiang University concern the west ”. He watched the public panels carefully, praised the slogan “where there is a dream there is a future” put forward by students. Vice president of West Region Department Xuebing Dong also introduced the public work done in aspect of “understanding about the western, concerning their development” to Zhaoxing Li, including the support education tutorial and social practice activities in summer.
After the visit, Zhaoxing Li wrote the inscription “Only a motherland, long live the people” gladly in order to encourage the Department to make greater contribution in the national in-depth implementation of the western development strategy by following the instructions of chairman Kai Ma as before.
