On the afternoon of October 28th, the founding ceremony of The Centre for Research on China and Global Economic Policy (CGEP), which was jointly operated by the University of Nottingham and Zhejiang University, was grandly held at the Meeting Room 418 in the building of the School of Economics in the Yuquan campus of Zhejiang University. The vice dean of the School of Economics Professor Huang Xianhai host the ceremony. The deputy Party secretary of Zhejiang University Researcher Ren Shaobo, the dean of the academy of social science Professor Yu Xunda, the executive vice president of the School of Economics Professor Jin Xiangrong, the dean of the School of Economics in the University of Nottingham Professor Kevin Lee and other professors from CGEP attended the ceremony.
In the ceremony, the director from Zhejiang University shared the experience of all these years’ research and achievements, and stressed that depending on reinforced research team of CGEP, the prospect of CGEP was very promising. After that the director from the University of Nottingham Professor Chris Milner proposed the theoretical frontiers CGEP should focus on, with the view of technological innovation and China’s economic transformation and upgrade.
The Centre for Research on China and Global Economic Policy is a directly under academic institution collaboratively founded by the University of Nottingham and Zhejiang University, administerial under the School of Economics of Zhejiang University, and operationally led by social science management organization. Its substance is to integrate the academic resource Zhejiang University has already possessed in the area of the research on China and global economic policy, depending on the academic research resource and international influence that the University of Nottingham’s Centre for Research on Global Economics Policy has already formed, aiming at putting up an integrated academic institutions that gathers academic exchanges, joint research, policy research and consulting.
