From January 9 to 12, 2011, Lifelong professor Haiyang Li from Rice University paid a visit to School of Management, ZJU, and gave a two-day speech series on international researches on strategy and innovation. Professor Li is rich in working experience. He has worked in Lingnan University of Hongkong, Texas A & M, and Rice Univeresity. Also he has made great academic achievements in the field of business strategy, product innovation and project team management, investment of international entrepreneurs on R&D, and has numbers of high level papers published in《Academy of Management Journal》and 《Strategic Management Journal》.

The speech series can be divided into three parts: the opportunities and risks of carrying out strategic management research in China; the process and experience of having a paper published in top periodicals, and further discussions with associate professors and PhDs on their research reports.

During the three lectures, Professor Li frankly shared with Chinese researchers his experience and offered many suggestions on research method and proposals. He suggested that young scholars should have a clear knowledge of their research identity, based on which they can join international research group and have research conversations with them. The teachers and students present were deeply impressed by his speech.
