On December 29, 2010, Professor Wang Neng, director of the Finance Department from School of Business, Columbia University, visited College of Economics and Institute of Finance, ZJU. Executive vice president Jin Xiangrong, and vice president Wang Wei gave him a warm reception. Professor Jin and Professor Wang made detailed introduction on the college and the institute. The two sides also discussed on mutual exchange and communication. Then Professor Wang Neng gave an academic speech entitled “The Economics of Hedge Funds: Alpha, Fees, Leverage, and Valuation”. Professor Wang presided over the symposia.

Professor Wang’s paper employed the classic research method of economics, and investigated into the influence of hedge fund fee structure on the dynamics of financial leverage and valuation of the fund.

Professor Wang’s speech aroused great interest among the students, who put forwarded many questions. Professor Wang spoke highly of their questions and answered them with great patience.
