From November 4 to 7, 2010, Professor Robert Rhodes from University of California, Los Angeles, visited College of Education at invitation. Executive Vice President Xu Xiaozhou extended a warm welcome to the guest from afar.
During the visit, Professor Robert Rhodes made two academic reports for professors and students at College of Education, entitled “Globalized Citizens and University” and “American Entrepreneurial University”. The reports were chaired by Professor Xu Xiaozhou. Some teachers, masters, and doctors attended the meeting, and had heated exchanges with Professor Rhoads.
Professor Rhoads’s report provided a wealth of information to teachers and students, which deepened their understanding of globalization and entrepreneurial university. After each report, the teachers and students had heated discussion with Professor Rhoads on the functions of research universities, globalization and internationalization, value conflicts of global and national citizenship, and university's academic and administrative issues.
On the afternoon of November 5, Professor Robert Rhodes had an in-depth discussion with professors from College of Education on the higher education reform in China. In addition, Professor Rhodes also visited Zijingang campus, and spoke highly of the development of ZJU.
