Ceremony for Guest Professor, John Whalley and His Academic Report

 

On October 27, 2010, Professor John Whalley of University of Western Ontario, internationally renowned economist and the Canadian Royal Academy, was appointed guest professor of Zhejiang University. The ceremony and academic report were held in Room 408 of School of Economics, Zhejiang University.

The appointment ceremony was presided by Professor Huang Xianhai, the vice president of School of Economics. Professor Jiang Yuexiang, the party secretary and vice president of School of Economics was also present. Professor Huang extended a warm welcome to Professor John Whalley, and introduced his academic experience and achievements. Professor Jiang issued to him the letter of appointment and presented him the badge of Zhejiang University. Professor John Whalley said that he is now a member of Zhejiang University and he will dedicate to the academic and research exchanges between the two universities. 

Then Professor John Whalley gave a lecture named “The Potential Global and Developing Country Impacts of Alternative Emission Cuts and Accompanying Mechanisms for the Post Copenhagen Process”, which aroused great interest among the students. He then answered the questions of the students in detail and said he would keep close contact with the scholars of School of Economic, ZJU.
